Nigeria News: Kashamu - reason am agianst Obasanjo

Chairman Mobilizing Committee -Buruji Kashamu

The Chairman, Organisation and Mobilisation Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party in the South-West, Buruji Kashamu, has said he has been at war with former President Olusegun Obasanjo due to their clash of interests.
Kashamu said while some members of the PDP were fighting for the interest of the South-West in the party, the ex-President was seeking personal political fulfilment.
In an interview with our correspondent, the PDP financier said his camp has been disagreeing with Obasanjo because he allegedly imposes people on other people.
He said, “PDP has been liberated. When Baba Obasanjo was controlling the whole of South-West (PDP); that was what happened (marginalisation) and that is why we have been fighting since those days.
“Not that I hate Baba Obasanjo; it is not that I don’t have respect for elders; but we are tired of people who will be saying something today and be saying another thing tomorrow. We are tired of imposition. We are tired of selfish interests.
“The people who are supposed to join their hands together and fight for the future of our children; are not doing that. They are doing whatever negotiations they want to do for their selfish interests. That is what has dragged us behind the scene.”
Kashamu said unlike what obtained when Obasanjo was leading the PDP, members of the party could now function independently without interference from higher authorities.
Obasanjo had at different occasions criticised Kashamu for being allowed to lead the party in the South-West.
The ex-President, who resigned his appointment as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the PDP, has refrained from being active in the party until Kashamu is sacked.
